OUR PROJECTS
Focus on Children
For this project, we learned how to plan effective lessons to put together for pre-k students. We broke down the lesson plan into parts and focused on why we wanted to have an activity for the pre-k students and what we wanted them to learn. We also wanted to emphasize that we can teach lessons while also having fun and being hands on. We decided to focus on 2 holidays and one content area that students were learning in class at the time.

National Programs in Action: Stand Up
For this project, we identified a community need based around suicide awareness and mental health. In order to address this concern, we planned and organized a Mental Health Summit and Lock-In for Meadow students to attend and learn about suicide prevention and awareness, mental health resources, and coping skills for stress and anxiety.

Cupcake Battle
Tiffany will bake, decorate, and display 6 cupcakes. Cupcakes will be evaluated on overall appearance, cake flavor, texture, frosting consistency, flavor, originality, technique, time management, sanitation, and mise en place. For region, she will bake her cupcakes beforehand and decorate them at the competition. If she advances to state, she will be expected to bake and decorate them at the competition.
Promote and Publicize
The team developed an FCCLA promotion and publicity campaign to raise awareness and educate the school, parents, and members of the community about the importance of FCCLA and Family and Consumer Sciences education.

Spotlight on Projects

Community Service
The FCS classes were asked to bake and decorate Christmas Cookies for the Cookies and Cocoa Event with The Grinch at the Meadow Music Hall in Meadow, Texas. FCCLA members also volunteered to help run the event. Unwrapped toys and cans of food were also brought to the event and donated to local families in need.
Career Connection
Kyren Howard will be making a spotlight board about her research into finding and developing her knowledge and skills in her chosen future career. Her chosen career field is in real estate

Stand Up
This group wanted to do a project to help student leaders in FCCLA to be able to properly address issues that have the potential to arise in our school’s culture.
